Overview
The flight school Aéroclub International Sisteron (ACIS), often referred to as Vol A Voile Sisteron, is located at the airfield Aérodrome Sisteron‐Vaumeilh in Vaumeilh/Sisteron in southern France. This location in the Alpine regions of Provence-Alpes-Côte d’Azur is internationally known for excellent gliding conditions: with over 300 sunny days per year and a combination of mountains and plains, the area offers ideal winds and scenic flights.
The school is aimed at beginners as well as ambitious gliding students who want a full license. In addition to practical flight offers, there are also theoretical training parts – ideal for everyone who wants to systematically start gliding.
Offer of training
The ACIS offers several training routes and flight offers:
- “Discovery Flights” (trigger/introduction flights) in a sailplane for those interested – ideal for a first impression.
- initial gliding pilot training with the objective of the licence — with courses, flight hours, tow take-offs and use of a ground flight simulator.
- Theoretical training (Ground School) within the BIA (Brevet d’Initiation Aéronautique) – course programme covering aerodynamics, flight mechanics, aircraft engineering, meteorology, navigation and aviation history.
- For younger interested parties ()< 25 years), the association offers special four-week intensive programs with the goal of “solo flight”.
Costs
For beginners, the “Discovery Flight” offer is available. According to information on the website, the prices are currently – depending on duration and flight type – at:
