Barcelonnette – Saint-Pons Airfield

The flight school Aérodrome de Barcelonnette – Saint‐Pons is located in the south of France, in Alpes-de-Haute-Provence, near the small town of Barcelonnette (about 2 km away). The airfield is located at 1 132 m altitude and has a paved runway with a length of 800 m and an orientation 09/27.The airfield is open for civil and public air transport – both for private aircraft and VFR traffic in daylight. There are no control towers; air traffic is carried out via self-information frequencies.

The flight school or on-site operations are operated by the Centre de Vol à Voile de l’Ubaye (CVVU).

The offer at the Aérodrome is aimed at interested parties of different levels of experience – from “discoverer flight” to courses for gliding and powered flight. Scenic flights ("Vols decouvertes"), mountain motor training ("Stage Vol en montagne") as well as gliding and powered flight introductions are offered.The landscape around the valley of the Ubaye Valley with numerous peaks over 3000 m altitude as well as beautiful viewpoints - for example the lake Serre-Ponçon or the ski stations Pra Loup, Sauze and Sainte Anne - make the location ideal for scenic flights and training in the Alps.

The gliding in particular enjoys great popularity: Flights with a glider enable calm gliding flights over the mountains and the Ubaye Valley.

The price structure depends on the respective offer – scenic flights (e.g.) B. Panoramic flights) are billed per flight or per group, often referring to 1–3 people per flight. For example, a 20-minute flight costs about €135 per group, a 30-minute flight about €165 per group.For special target groups — such as people with reduced mobility — the flight school offers discounted fares. Anyone who is interested in this will be asked to contact directly.

In principle, the offers are open to interested parties of all ages (unless special restrictions apply). During scenic flights and introductions, minors must provide a declaration of consent from the parents.Since it is air sports in the Alps, special requirements may apply depending on the course – for example, in terms of flight suitability, weather and experience. It is advisable to consult with the school before booking so that the appropriate conditions and requirements can be clarified.
