Overview of the airfield and association

The Landsberger Segelflugverein Geratshof e.V. operates the gliding airfield Geratshof – a natural airfield near Landsberg am Lech (district: Ellighofen / Unterdießen). The airfield is nestled in rural surroundings and provides real “flying on the farm” flair. For gliders and alpine pilots alike, the Geratshof offers a family and committed community as well as a good infrastructure with a hangar, club home and permanent facilities for pilots. The association has existed since 1993 and currently has about 70 members.

Offer of training & Alpine flies

At the Geratshof, there is both classic gliding training and targeted training for Alpine and route pilots. The training starts classically in a double-seater under the guidance of an experienced flight instructor. Later you fly independently and get to know and master different types of aircraft. After a sufficient number of starts, the first solo flight can take place – a significant milestone on the way to the license.

In addition, the association offers special Alpine flight briefings and camps for clubs, groups and individual pilots if they are interested. This training is aimed at those who want to go beyond “normal” gliding and get to know flying in alpine terrain. Such training is provided by experienced Alpine pilots and covers theory and practice.

Costs & Fees

The Geratshof charges manageable fees for guest pilots and planes who are not members of the club. These charges cover launch modes such as winch launch or F-towing, use of infrastructure and, if necessary, subsistence or overnight facilities. Thus, the entry remains comparatively inexpensive even for occasional planes and guests.

Service / Fee Amount
Winch start (guest pilot) 5,00 €
Aircraft towing (F-towing) per minute 4,00 €
Daily fee for flights as PIC 10,00 €
Landing fee TMG / self-starter 5,00 €
The imposition fee for the hall, or Aircraft (per day) 5,00 €
Overnight adults (per day) 10,00 €
Overnight under 16 years (per day) 5,00 €

Prerequisites for training

To begin gliding training, you should be at least 14 years old. The official license can be purchased from the age of 16. In addition to age, physical and mental fitness as well as commitment and pleasure in flying are important. It does not depend on school leaving or profession – who is motivated can participate. :contentReference[oaicite:6]{index=6}

You should have enough time for the training: according to the association, weekends and public holidays are particularly needed at the beginning to complete theory and practice. Exactly how much time is needed cannot be said in general terms – depends greatly on your personal commitment and the weather conditions.
