About SG Bern
The gliding group Bern (SG Bern) is a traditional gliding arena at Bern-Belp Airport. With a fleet of sailplanes, a powered sailplane and a towing aircraft, SG Bern operates gliding and training activities.
Offer of training
SG Bern offers gliding training — from initial training to performance-oriented training with winch or tow launches. Thus, the offer is aimed at both beginners and people who want to deepen their gliding skills.
Requirements
Those who want to complete a gliding training at SG Bern should be interested in flying and the willingness to participate regularly in flights and theory lessons during the season. The association is aimed at people who want to learn to fly reliably – often accompanied by experienced flight instructors: inside. Specific formal requirements (e.g. Age, medical certificate) should be requested directly from SG Bern. Due to the club structure, the pace of training can vary and extend over a longer period of time depending on the weather, availability and personal commitment. The training ends with a practical and theoretical examination. (This is the usual procedure for gliding clubs — an official description can be found directly on the website.)
Costs
The costs for gliding training at SG Bern are not shown in a flat rate and depend heavily on factors such as training duration, flight hours and membership of the association. According to information from glider clubs in Switzerland, the total costs can vary greatly – but often the price range is significantly lower than that of motorised pilot training.
