About SG Lenzburg
The SG Lenzburg is a traditional gliding group that will be flying on the 16th. It was founded in November 1933. Its home airport is the airfield Birrfeld in the canton of Aargau, Switzerland. Together with other groups, SG Lenzburg is training in gliding and providing a modern fleet of aircraft to interested parties and ambitious pilots.
The aim of the group is to offer both beginners and experienced gliders attractive opportunities for training, route and leisure flights as well as community within a camaraderie environment.
Offer of training
SG Lenzburg offers the opportunity to complete a gliding training via the Birrfeld Aviation School located on the square. Interested parties can first book a trial flight – in good weather they receive first flight minutes together with a flight instructor, often with first tax experience.
After training, SG Lenzburg offers a wide range of further training opportunities: this includes retraining on more efficient sailplanes, permits for route flights, mountain flying permits, winch launch extension and other specializations.
This opens up the full spectrum of gliding activities for graduates – from sporty route flight to community flying, camp activities or participation in competitions.
Requirements
The training takes place at Birrfeld airfield via the Birrfeld Fliegerschule together with the volunteer flight instructors of the affiliated groups, including SG Lenzburg. A trial flight can be used to gain initial experience and to check whether gliding corresponds to your own ideas.
In order for regular gliding training (and later license / brevet) to be possible, a recognised training must take place in accordance with the guidelines of the competent aviation authority – as is usual with EASA regulation. Depending on the desired expansion (e.g. Route permit, winch take-off, mountain flight) certain experience and examination requirements as well as medical fitness are necessary.
Costs
SG Lenzburg itself does not provide a flat-rate total cost for full gliding training on the website — the costs often depend on the number of flights, tow, rental hours and personal level of training. The specific price structure can therefore vary.
An earlier offer of the group serves as an indication for interested parties: In the case of an information or introduction flight (trial flight or flights). Presentation flight with double-seater) the price was at **CHF 85.–**. For all further training steps (theory, school flights, towing, etc.), SG Lenzburg recommends contacting directly, as costs vary depending on the effort. (-)
