What is the ASGZ?

An Overview of the Flight School

The Alpine gliding group Zweisimmen (ASGZ) is a traditional Swiss gliding school that offers an ideal environment in the middle of the Alps for learning silent flying. It combines modern training methods with club life, nature experience and a strong community. The training takes place within the framework of an active air sports club, which makes the entry into aviation particularly personal and practical.

First steps for interested parties

A non-binding entry is possible via so-called trial flights. You will accompany a flight instructor in a double-seater and get a realistic impression of gliding as well as an insight into the course of training. This option is ideal for anyone who wants to get to grips with the topic before starting a full education.

Club life and team spirit

The ASGZ attaches great importance to an active community. Student pilots, pilots and flight instructors work hand in hand, supporting each other at the launch site and exchanging valuable experiences. This club environment not only creates a pleasant learning climate, but also promotes a deeper understanding of the processes in gliding operations.

Offer of training

The flight school offers the complete basic training as a gliding pilot. Starting with the training in the double-seater, the retraining on single-seater will take place later, as soon as you have gained sufficient experience. The training path includes theory, practical flight hours, take-offs, landings, thermal flights and preparation for the practical examination. In addition, after completion of the basic license, further qualifications can be acquired, if available in the club, such as route flight or advanced flight techniques.

Costs & Duration

Depending on the individual learning progress and the number of flights required, the total cost of gliding training is usually in the range of approximately **CHF 5,000 to CHF 7,000**. A season usually extends from spring to autumn, so that the training period usually extends over **one to two years**.

For the first entry, ASGZ also offers a **trip package with five flights**, which costs a flat rate **CHF 500**. This allows you to test without much commitment whether gliding is the right passion for you.

Requirements

A minimum age of usually **14 years** is required for the commencement of training. In addition, a medical fitness is required that confirms that you are health-consciously able to practice the flying sport safely. In addition to these official prerequisites, commitment plays a major role – since gliding takes place in the club environment, motivated flight students benefit particularly greatly from collaborative learning.

Table: Training offers & Costs

Training / Offer Description/Duration Cost (approximately)
Tribute flights 5 flights with flight instructor to get to know each other without obligation CHF 500
Glide basic training 1–2 years, seasonal operation from spring to autumn CHF 5’000 – 7’000
