Overview of the airfield & Association

The glider flying association Ausserfern (SVA) operates the glider airfield Reutte-Höfen (ICAO: LOIR) in the Tyrolean outskirts. The airfield is located only a few kilometres south of the market town of Reutte and offers excellent conditions for alpine gliding and route flights with an altitude of about 855 m and direct access to the main Alpine ridge.

The club looks back on a long history: it was founded in 1953, and since 1956 is regularly flown on today's square. Since then, the club has developed into a permanent fixture in the Alpine region – with club spirit, dedicated members and a gliding fleet that meets sporting demands as well as training needs.

Offer of training

The SVA offers interested and flight students the opportunity to enter the world of gliding and learn to fly in alpine surroundings. In this case, the offer of first instruction or resettlement is sufficient. Taster flights through practical training up to en route flight and thermal flight experience in the Alps. For experienced glider pilots, modern double-seater and single-seater aircraft are available, with which also school and advanced flights are possible.

Costs

The course and usage fees at the SVA are moderate and transparent. Members and guests have different fee models, in particular for first flights, training and use of space. In addition, there is a grant membership.

Performance/Art Costs/Note

Requirements

Those who want to start gliding training at the SVA should be physically fit and ideally have an interest in alpine landscapes and thermic-dependent flying. More precise requirements regarding age, health suitability or previous knowledge are discussed with the association at the first consultation. Initial experience shows: Even beginners are welcome – even people of advanced age have successfully started flying with the support of the club members.
