About the CNVP
The Centre National de Vol en Planeur (CNVP) is an internationally oriented gliding and training centre based at the airfield in Saint‐Auban, Château-Arnoux-Saint-Auban (France). CNVP sees itself as a central institution for glider training and further education – both for ambitious private pilots and clubs, as well as prospective flight instructors and technicians.
In addition to hangars and workshops, the infrastructure also includes accommodation, briefing rooms, restaurants, technical workshops and versatile leisure opportunities. CNVP thus offers an all-round offer: training, flight operations and accommodation – ideal for intensive weeks or multi-week gliding courses.
Offer of training & Courses
CNVP offers a wide range of courses and training programs related to gliding and aviation:
- Advanced Gliding Courses – Perfection of gliding skills for private pilots.
- Duo Courses – double-seater gliding with an instructor, ideal for beginners or refreshments.
- Aerobatic Courses – Aerobatic Flight with the Sailor: Basic or advanced courses for experienced pilots.
- Group and club courses – organisation of training or community stays for groups or clubs with hangar and briefing rooms, sliders, etc.
- Instructor training or Technician – For participants who are striving for ambitious qualifications (instructor, mechanic).
Costs & Prices
The costs at CNVP vary depending on the season time and the course chosen. For the 6-day “Advanced Gliding Course”, for example, there are different price scales: the fees for instruction and aircraft rental increase depending on the season.

Requirements
Different requirements apply depending on the course:
- For advanced courses or aerobatic training, a valid gliding license (e.g.) the French or equivalent national licence.
- In addition, many courses require a membership or an annual fee with the CNVP (e.g. in the context of course booking.
- Courses usually take place in the season between February and October – depending on the course type and weather conditions.
