Overview of the flight school
Who is the flight school?
TL Aviation GmbH, based at the Verkehrslandeplatz in Mönchengladbach (NRW), is a flight and training organisation (ATO) certified in accordance with the regulations of the German Federal Aviation Office (LBA).
The school offers both private pilot training and modular and integrated training up to the commercial pilot licence – including simulator and type training for samples such as the Airbus A320.
Particular focus is on modern training with simulators, virtual reality training and a professional flight instructor crew with scheduled flight experience.
Location and equipment
The location at Mönchengladbach Airport offers IFR operation, a control zone and good infrastructure for theory and practice training.
The equipment includes, among other things, state-of-the-art FNPT II simulators, VR training facilities and an aircraft fleet for private and vocational training.
Offer of training
From licence to vocational training
TL Aviation offers a wide range of training courses: from the acquisition of the private pilot licence PPL(A) or LAPL(A), through instrument and multi-engine training (IR, MEP(L)), to the modular or integrated training for commercial pilot ATPL(A).
Also type authorizations (e.g. Airbus A320) or MCC/APS MCC training courses are part of the program.
Selection of training programmes & assumed costs
| Training programme | Description | Indication for costs* (€) |
|---|---|---|
| PPL(A) – Private Pilot Licence | Basic license for single-engine landplanes, entry into aviation. | Approximately from 13,000–15,000 € (depending on the number of hours and type) |
| Modular ATPL(A) training | Theoretical and practical modules up to the commercial pilot license. | Price high depending on the circumference (e.g. Theory over 650 h + practice – concrete figures on request |
| Integrated ATPL(A) training | Full program for entry as a commercial pilot (zero-to-ATPL). | – (individually, no publicly binding amount shown) |
| Instrument/Multimotor training (IR, MEP(L), etc.) | Extensions to the instrument flight or multi-engine aircraft licence. | Varies greatly – School prices on request |
\*Note: The costs mentioned are indications, not binding information. TL Aviation offers individual advice on exact pricing.
Costs
Cost situation in general
At TL Aviation, as with all flight schools, the cost of flight instruction is largely dependent on: selected license type, number of flight hours, aircraft types, simulator share and personal progress and timeframe.
The flight school points out that it pays attention to the modular ATPL(A) training in cost-efficient ways and allows flexible module selection.
A rough orientation: For a PPL(A) training, external comparative values are around 12,000 € or more.
For the modular upgrades up to ATPL(A), higher expenses are common – TL Aviation does not mention a lump sum, but offers individual offers.
Tip for cost planning
* Use the flight school advisory session to discuss your personal route (modular/inclusive) and possible additional costs (medical, examination fees, accommodation).
* Pay attention to realistic flight hour estimates; time or weather-related delays may generate additional costs.
* Check which simulator hours are counted – TL Aviation uses FNPT II simulators, among other things, to reduce costs.
Requirements
Basic requirements
In order to start training at TL Aviation, certain conditions must be met. These include, inter alia:
*At least one medical certificate (“Class 1” or “Class 2”) depending on the license objective.
* Minimum age and language skills (e.g. English for international use.
* Performance in mathematics, physics and engineering is recommended for more demanding licenses.
Specific conditions per licence
* For PPL(A): No previous pilot’s license is mandatory – training is usually possible from “zero hours”.
* For modular or integrated ATPL(A): After the theory phase, often internship or Flight hours proof required, e.g. Instrument flight (IR) or multi-engine rating.
* Knowledge of English and if applicable. ICAO language level can be a prerequisite, especially if international use or airline use is planned.
FAQ – Frequent questions about the flight school TL Aviation
1. What types of licenses can I purchase from TL Aviation?
At TL Aviation, entry-level licences such as PPL(A) or LAPL(A) as well as further qualifications and vocational training pathways up to ATPL-oriented training are possible. The school thus offers options for pure leisure pilots as well as for prospective commercial pilots.
2. How long does PPL(A) training last approximately?
The duration depends greatly on your availability and the weather. Those who regularly combine theory and practice should roughly expect several months to around one year. In part-time models, training can be extended accordingly.
3. Is modular training as a commercial pilot possible?
Yes, with a modular training you can gradually complete various modules such as PPL, instrument flight, multi-engine rating and commercial pilot modules. In this way, training can be flexibly adapted to budget and time frame.
4. Does TL Aviation also offer integrated ATPL training?
For applicants who have the goal of an airline cockpit from the beginning, there is the possibility of integrated training that maps the path from beginners to commercial aircraft pilots. Exact structure and start dates are agreed directly with the flight school.
5. What costs do I have to expect in total?
The total cost depends heavily on the chosen path. While a pure private pilot license can be in the low five-digit range, significantly higher sums are to be expected for complete vocational training. On request, TL Aviation will create an individual offer that takes your initial situation into account.
6. Can I complete the training in addition to my job or studies?
Modular training in particular can often be combined well with work or studies. Theory phases and flight dates can be planned in coordination with the school. Realistic scheduling is particularly important here so that learning progress remains stable.
7. What language skills are expected?
Good knowledge of German is necessary for operation in German airspace. English technical terms also play a role at an early stage of training. If you want to fly IFR in the long term or change to an airline, you should be prepared for a good level of English and, if necessary, an ICAO language exam.
8. Do I need flight experience in advance to get started?
No prior flight experience is mandatory to board LAPL(A) or PPL(A). Many students start completely without prior knowledge. For further ratings or professional programs, certain minimum flight hours and possibly existing licenses are then necessary.
9. Are there opportunities for financing or funding programmes?
Concrete financing models and funding options depend on the individual case. It is worthwhile to address the topic directly in the consultation with TL Aviation in order to examine options such as installment payments, external financing partners or possible funding programs.
10. How can I apply for or seek advice from TL Aviation?
The first step is usually a non-binding contact by phone, e-mail or contact form via the flight school website. In a personal conversation, goals, previous knowledge and possible training paths can be discussed. On this basis, the school puts together a suitable training and cost concept.
