ASK 21 – The modern training sailplane
The ASK 21 is a modern, two-seater glider that has been specially developed for training and club operations. It originates from Alexander Schleicher and was designed by the renowned designer Rudolf Kaiser. Since its introduction in the late 1970s, it has been one of the most used training sailplanes worldwide.
In contrast to older patterns, the ASK 21 is made entirely of glass fibre reinforced plastic (GRP). This design gives it a high strength, a low weight and a significantly reduced maintenance effort. The seats arranged next to one another ensure good communication between flight instructor and flight student and make learning the basics particularly clear and pleasant.
Flying, the ASK 21 convinces with very good-natured and balanced characteristics. It responds precisely but not nervously to control inputs and offers a high level of safety, even in slow flight or at high angles of attack. In addition, it is certified for simple aerobatic flight, which makes it ideal for learning advanced attitudes, twirl exercises and safety maneuvers.
Thanks to its versatility, the ASK 21 is not only used in basic training, but also for performance flights, line flight training, Aerobatics and refresher training of experienced pilots. It is emblematic of modern gliding training: safe, durable and ideally suited to accompany pilots from their first solo flight to more challenging flying tasks.
