Common orientation

The course arranges the traffic around an airfield. Their published situation and local procedures are decisive. Our spatial representation shows only a simplified example. Routes, altitudes and curve radii are not a requirement for a real flight.

Take-off and departure

Before take-off, the pilot checks with the checklist whether aircraft, train and weather fit for the flight. After take-off, the departure follows the local procedure. Attention is distributed between flight path, flight condition and traffic. Numerical values for this are in the flight manual and in the briefing.

Reciprocating approach and cross approach

In the return flight, the landing is prepared in time. Wind affects ground travel and schedule. In the cross-approach, the further approach is assessed. A close or forced change of course shortly before landing is not a substitute for a stable approach. The flight instructor will show you the appropriate decisions.

Final Approach and Decision

In the final approach, the approach to the aircraft and the situation must fit. If it cannot be resumed safely, the timely start-up is part of the practiced procedure. Landing and roll-out are trained under guidance. Use this overview as preparation for the briefing with your flight school.
