About the flight school
The Ardex flight school, based at the airport Kyritz in Brandenburg, is a family-run traffic pilot school with a long tradition – founded in 1991 and continuously expanded since then. It offers extensive training from private pilot licence to commercial pilot licence (ATPL) and combines modern aircraft technology, simulators and a pleasant infrastructure with bistro and overnight accommodation. The school positions itself as a reputable training provider in the field of pilot training and is aimed at both beginners and prospective professional pilots.
Offer of training
The training portfolio of the Ardex flight school comprises various license levels and ratings: from PPL (private pilot licence) over night flight qualification, instrument flight (IR), commercial pilot licence (CPL), multi-engine rating to modular or ab-initio training for ATPL(A) – i.e. the commercial aircraft driver licence. Particular emphasis is placed on the modular ATPL training with 650 hours of theory lessons full-time or as distance learning plus attendance. In addition, a part-time bachelor’s degree program in business administration (7 semesters) is possible in parallel, via a cooperation with the Brandenburg University of Technology.
Costs
The investment in pilot training is significant and varies depending on the licensing level, scope and training path. At the Ardex flight school, for example, the part-time business administration degree program costs €641 per semester (for full occupancy).
The total cost of a complete ATPL-ab-initio training is not publicly stated with a fixed amount, but depends on individual factors such as flight hours, simulator use, accommodation and examination fees. In the field of pilot training, high five- or six-figure amounts are generally to be expected.
Requirements
Modular training for ATPL(A) at Ardex includes the following requirements: possession of a PPL(A) licence with night flight qualification, at least 50 hours of cross-country flying time as pilot-in-command (of which at least 10 hours on aeroplanes), adequate knowledge of English, mathematics and physics, minimum age 17 years and a valid class 1 medical certificate at the start of practical training. Practical training shall be subject to additional flight hours, night and instrument flight requirements.

FAQ – Frequently Asked Questions
How long does pilot training take?
The duration depends on the chosen license and the individual learning rhythm. Modular training can take a few months to two years.
What conditions do I need?
For basic licenses, a Medical Class 2 is usually sufficient. For professional training, Medical Class 1 is required. Further prerequisites depend on the respective training path.
What medical fitness is necessary?
Private pilots need Medical Class 2. For CPL/ATPL, Medical Class 1 is mandatory.
Can I flexibly combine theory and practice?
Yes, many programs are modular. Theory can often be completed on a part-time basis or as a distance course.
Which aircraft are used?
The flight school uses modern single-engine and twin-engine training aircraft as well as simulators for IFR and multi-engine training.
What is the cost of training?
Costs vary depending on license, flight hours and individual planning. An exact calculation is made directly by the school.
Are there financing options?
Depending on the program, financing models, grants or training loans may be possible. The school offers details on request.
Is an education in addition to the profession possible?
Modular theory and practice modules make part-time training possible in principle.
What are the age limits?
It is often possible to start from 16-17 years. There is no upper age limit as long as medical fitness is met.
Is there support for applications?
Many flight schools assist with the application process, but do not offer a guaranteed job placement.
