Landing planning begins long before the last part of a balloon trip. Suitable surfaces are sought early and repeatedly re-evaluated.

Size and condition of the area are only part of the decision. Wind, approach area, terrain slope and salvage opportunities must also fit.

Pipes, masts and trees are important dangers. From the air, especially lines can be difficult to detect. The representation therefore shows obstacles consciously clearly.

An early selected landing area needs achievable alternatives. If doubts arise, the planning is adjusted in time, as long as there is still room for action.

The pilot prepares the passengers with a clear landing briefing. The ground crew remains informed and acts according to the agreed allocation of tasks.

How the specific balloon is approached and landed, teaches the flight school according to the flight manual. After the journey, safe rescue, consideration of the terrain and a joint evaluation are included.

Use this video for preparation and repetition. Practical procedures shall be carried out with a balloon instructor and in accordance with the documentation of the respective balloon.
