Two different flight phases

In free fall, body position and air forces determine movement. After the opening, an air-filled surface cap carries the jumper. The illustration compares these two phases schematically and without fixed speed values.

The cap slides

An open parachute moves forward and sinks at the same time. This creates a glide path. The matching cap, its load and the level of training influence the behavior. The selection is made with qualified teachers.

Wind moves the ground path

Wind changes the movement towards the ground. The same movement through the air can therefore lead to different paths over the ground. This is taken into account in the training during the planning of the umbrella flight.

Planning with your school

Landing area, traffic, obstacles and weather are discussed before the jump. A spatial model helps to understand, but does not replace instruction. You learn your specific flight plan and the landing procedures at the jumping site.
