Trike training: from trial flight to license

Getting to know and preparing

At the beginning there is a conversation in the flight school and a trial flight. You will get to know the open cockpit and the control bar. Discusses training goal, dates, health conditions and costs. For an education in Germany, the school should be recognized for the appropriate trike category.

Theory and double-seater

The theory lessons are about weather, navigation, air law, radio and the technique of trikes. At the same time, you begin practical training in the double-seater. The teacher will accompany the first exercises. You will learn to prepare the aircraft, roll safely and perform an orderly flight.

Become self-employed

As experience increases, laps are made, landings at other airfields and overland preparation. Your first solo flight will only take place after approval by the flight school. Personal learning progress decides. A legal minimum number of hours is therefore not a promise to be ready for examination after exactly this time.

Testing and further learning

Theoretical examination and practical examination complete the training. After that, you need regular flying and suitable instructions. Passenger authorisation, another type or flights abroad must be clarified separately. Therefore, plan time with an experienced flight instructor even after the license is granted.
